Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Radiation Necrosis

there were things in life i did not want to learn, and this falls in the "its a good thing" list after today's meeting with the new ENT.

I love early morning meetings and test, they always generate a positive spin on the day, like thinking spiking my daily soda with jack Danial's is a good thing.

Spent my morning at UCI (university of California Irvine medical center) for those not of this area, meeting up with one of the top two groups of ENT specialist in the So Cal area, the other group is at UCLA but there is no way i want to fight traffic to westwood village if i did not have to, know what i mean?

So i am now 5 tubes of blood lighter and a tube shoved up my nose happier and all i can say is ... i still think i am in trouble, i can be suffering from one of two things the new Docs say,

1. Radiation Necrosis, its not common(but not that uncommon) to start this long after radiation has ended, what is happening is that they soft tissue is dying and falling away, they can treat it with drugs (which i started today) and a few other things, one being the above mention of "Hyperbolic Oxygen" but they can't start that until they make sure i have no cancer, so that brings up the second possibility.
2. My friend cancer is back, if that is so i will have to have a full neck resection followed by reconstructive surgery,

The reason the can't start the Hyperbolic treatments is due to the positive growth of blood vessels it will cause in the effected area, if that happens and there is cancer there its like throwing "Miracle grow on your plants" the cancer will bloom all over the place, remember it was just recently they found cancer in my neck and the only thing that saved me was the lack of blood vessels going to that mass.

so what do I do now you wonder? well glad you asked, test, me and my insurance company get billed for more test, its all them fancy letter test also, PET/CT, MRI, Mickey mouse...you get the idea.

The main worry is that the necrotic hole is getting larger, i got a pain pill stuck in there the other night which many of you found funny (and you say i have a sick idea of humor) and it is very close to the carotid artery, very close from what they think, he says that they have not seen one of them blow out in over 10 years, but they are going to rush the test request just to be on the safe side, i guess if that damn thing leaks you can't put a band-aid on it.

well on a side note, they said i gained 6 pounds, so that's a plus, and on a funny note, as you can imagine i have a problem swallowing, its one of my main complaints, so what kind of pills does he give me? do you know the term "horse pills"? damn things can be used as Lego's, i think they are chipped off of log house timbers, i just think the doctors have a weird sense of humor.

Night all
