We have to stop meeting like this

Well today (Monday 06/28/2010) is over, it was a fun and scary day all in one, its kind of a Good news/Bad news day.

Good News...The stitches are out, the doctor is happy on how the incision is healing, it still looks nice, clean and after a few years it will not be that noticeable. I will post a picture of my neck sans stitches later today.

Bad news, The stitches are out, my neck itches like hell and it will swell up if i turn my head to many times, so i try and not to turn my head to many times.

Good News, The biopsy report is back today, there were a lot of parts in the cluster that needed sampling so it took a lot longer then we all thought it would, even the Doctor was surprised, but don't want to rush something like that huh?

Bad News, the Biopsy report is back, and it came back positive, for those of you that don't know the whole "Positive/Negative" thing, Positive = hey, theres cancer there, thanks for playing our game.

Good news, the cancer was completely encapsulated, which means that the lymph node was so fried it was like a cocoon around it, isolated, the radiation so burned up the area that even though the cancer was there the capillaries were so fried that blood could not get to it, blood can't get to it means it (the cancer) could not get out, so that is real good news. I was told that the chances that it spread from that area are extremely small, the decision that Dr. Kim made in removing it was a good one, the capillaries would have grown back eventually, but since we removed it before they reached the cluster it should not pose a problem.

What does that tell us? as far as a good luck streak, i just am edging up on the 50/50 mark, it also tells me that is the doctor comes up to me next time and say "the PET/CT scan is clean, i don't think you need to do this, means, trust the instinct like i did this time. Unless someone can always say "I am 100% positive you are clean", AND he gives me the winning lotto numbers always, always ask for a second opinion, i am glad i have Dr. Kim on my side.

and in reality i do not blame the PET/CT guys, the scan was clean, but since blood could not get to the cancer, the radioactive dye could not get to it either, and since it could not, it did not show the cancer, so in all truth it was a clean scan.

so now i get to start my twice a year scans all over again, see my ENT (Dr. Kim) every two months again for the next year and we wait, like the sands though an hour glass we...oh kill me now for making a soap opera reference.

Nite all, i have a hot date with an ice pack....
