Chemo man - Dr Reddy 07/12/2009

Well its been a couple of days, but last Thursday i met with my Chemo doc, he is Dr. Reddy and he makes the third member of my team who will try and kill this thing, and preferably leave me alive.

I delayed in posting this notice just trying to catch up on the pile of paper and things i need to learn as i go forward, i am trying to become and instant expert on things there people have studied for 20 years.

Dr. Reddy will be the Doctor doing the targeted / Infusion chemotherapy, he spent a good 45 minutes answering my questions and on top of that he is a pretty funny man, he tried to take my tool pouch that hangs on my side, he thought that was just the right size, so if i am around and able at the holidays i know what to get him.

They are going to be doing infusion / targeted chemotherapy, that is where the drugs are designed to target the tumor so the radiation can work the best, doing that they will minimize damage to the other cells and hopefully i will tolerate it much better then a wide spread chemotherapy plan.

The man has a decent credentials, i think i am OK with him since he teaches this at UCLA and is board certified in oncology and hematology and internal medicine.

One if the down sides is that they going to use this drug Erbitux, its a good drug, the only major side effect is that it might give a nasty skin rash while taking it, but in a way that's a good thing they say, the worse the rash, the better it works with the radiation, when i quit taking the drug the skin rash will disappear in a matter of days.

The other down side is it looks like i will have to do a stint with a stent, a stent is a tube that is inserted into a vein so they can load up the chemo, seems i have no veins left, well no vein of a usable size that is, so a stent it will be, guess i wont be lifting those large printers by myself anymore.

On the work front the people i work with the most are being helpful, the down side is that it looks like if i am gone more then 6 months (there is a small chance) i could be terminated, This is corporate policy, and scary.

But i have a long time before i really start worrying about that,

Well there is the current update, ask questions if you like, thanks for the continued encouragement.
