Well some good news for a change, I had a meeting with Dr. Kim this afternoon at 4PM, this was to present me with the results of the PET/CT scan, well for those of you that watch "House" that's the diagnostic tool he hates, it scans your body (well head to knees in my case) and would show any other cancer hot spots if any, good news is that it did not show any.
The mass is centralized on the side of my throat centered on what would have been my right tonsil if it was still there, it measures 4.3cm x 2.7cm which is a large mass, it involves my right side lymph glands it puts me at an agressive stage 3 / light stage 4 cancer.
it is defined as a " invasive squamous cell carcinoma, moderate to poorly differentiated" which in English means "i have to do something about this..fast".
Dr. Kim indicated that this type of carcinoma responds very well to Radiation/Chemotherapy and the survival outlook is the same as if i had it removed surgically, i feel good about this because Dr. Kim is a surgeon by training and he feels that the Radiation/Chemotherapy route is just fine.
So that is good, i now have appointments with two other doctors and a treatment group (team) is beginning to shape up, strange, most of them went to the same medical school at the same time, and did their residency at the same hospital at the same time, i like that, that means to me that they are all friends, they know how they work, and that they are comfortable with each other, i also checked them out with the AMA, no black marks, so that's a plus.
I still need to see specialized dentist, he needs to check my jaw and see that all is nice and healthy before radiation starts.I am not sure which i dislike more, the fact that i get a cancer that i should not have, or i have to go see another dentist now.
So that's where i stand now, i will be getting the PET scan images in the next day or so, if i can get them up i will post them, Dr. Kim says its real easy to find the tumor, and please limit the amount of jokes about the lack of substance between my ears.
for those of you that do not know me that well, i will crack jokes even in dire circumstance, its my defence mechanism, its just who i am, it does not mean i am not taking this seriously, i take this very seriously.

That is outstanding news Cory! You just made my day. Hang in there and continue to fight the good fight.
yay! who among us would even consider joking about the space between your ears? Seriously, great news - i'm glad!
Thank you for the update Cory!
This is great news buddy!! Call me if you need anything or want to hang out.
Houchen, I may get a good nights sleep after all. Thanks for the prompt update. I know it's probably not something you want to do after going to the doctor but surely you knew we would be calling otherwise. Take care and let me know if I can help in any way. Peace
by the way, my userid reads "Go Dan Man". I know it looks horrible at first glance. Mistake of a quick second's decision...
That is good news Cory!! I waited a few days to post until the PET scan results were in.. was sending my mojo. I am like you, the fact that your team has a history, and are in sync is a very good sign. Make sure ya keep us informed so we can help you with anything you may need. :D:D
